We are Ana and Dragutin Zagorac, proud owners of Sweet Rhapsody, Inc. We started our family business in 2017 when we moved to Calgary from our home town of Vinkovci, located in Slavonia, a historical region of Croatia. Vinkovci is the oldest settlement in Europe, inhabited for more than 8,000 years. It has a deep and rich culture, with confectionery recipes that prevail to this day.
When we moved to Canada, we brought our customs and recipes with us and a dream of sharing them with the world. At the very beginning, we operated our bakery from our home kitchen. Initially, providing only catering services, we continued to impress our customers with the most delicious Slavonic recipes, passed down for generations.
Now our small family business is growing and we’ve opened the doors of our bakery/cafe. It is our honor to have the support from our customers to establish a bakery that serves the most delicious Slavonic food that would make our ancestors proud. The decision to leave Vinkovci was difficult, but the ability to share and celebrate a part of our culture in Calgary has made it all worthwhile.
Our love for baking is deeply rooted in our culture. Centuries-old Slavonic recipes are part of our heritage and a part of who we are. They are passed down for generations and we are happy to share them with you, along with other traditional dishes.
